CO2 compensation

CO2 compensation is achieved via a project involving the generation of wind energy. Wind energy helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Ecomel compensates for al the CO2 produced during the production and transport of its packaging. This CO2 compensation scheme complies with the highest requirements, i.e. the Gold Standard. Only sustainable energy and energy efficient projects with proven additional value qualify under this scheme.

By purchasing Gold Standard rights Ecomel is investing in the Te Apiti wind energy project in New Zealand. Using 55 wind turbines Te Apiti supplies green power to approximately 45,000 homes each year. The resulting reduction in CO2 helps to combat climate change. The greenhouse effect is a global problem and any contribution to a reduction in CO2 is significant, whether it is in the Netherlands or New Zealand.
